We are two high school researchers who believe curiosity is power.
At A² Research Team, we turn everyday questions into scientific studies. Our goal is to explore topics that matter — using data, logic, and creativity.
Whether it’s how phone usage affects school performance or other real-world questions, we break things down and explain them in a way everyone can understand.
Does Phone Usage Affect GPA?
In today’s world, smartphones are everywhere — but how much are they affecting our academic lives? That’s the question we set out to explore.
Our research involved 26 students from our own 11th grade class. Each participant shared their average daily phone usage and their most recent report card grades. We then grouped their phone usage into time ranges (like 2–4 hours, 4–6 hours, 6–8 hours, etc.) and compared it to their GPA.
Using Google Sheets, we created scatter plots, calculated averages for each usage group, and even ran a linear regression analysis to explore the trend between screen time and academic performance.
The result? A clear negative correlation — as screen time increased, average GPA tended to drop. The most noticeable drop occurred between the 6–8 and 8+ hour groups.
📊 We also looked at the Pearson correlation coefficient to measure how strong the relationship was, and the numbers backed up our visual findings.
🧠 Our conclusion? While phones are useful, too much usage may affect school performance more than most students realize.
At A² Research Team, we want to make science simple and relatable. We use tools like Google Sheets and statistical charts to turn questions into discoveries — and share them in both English and Arabic so more people can learn from them.
We’re not professional scientists (yet) — we’re just two students who want to ask better questions, and answer them with real data.
If we can do it, so can you.
Co-founder & Lead Data Analyst
Loves numbers, patterns, and discovering things no one noticed before. He organizes the data and looks for the deeper story behind the charts.
Co-founder & Lead Research Designer
Focuses on presentation, structure, and communicating ideas clearly. He handles layout, visuals, and the overall storytelling of each study.
This is just the beginning!
We're already planning our next research project — and we’re always looking for ideas.
